PRIVATE MESSAGE By JOYCE PILARSKY : DESIGNERS ARE STARS AT BROOKLYN FASHION WEEKEND
In my opinion, the best organized fashion show that I have participated in -- and I had joined from France, Germany, Brooklyn, and the Philippines – is the Brooklyn Fashion Weekend. Aside from being organized, it is not only designer friendly but also model-friendly.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell complained how posh designer Victoria Beckham used one black model to 29 White models at her London Fashion Week show. At Brooklyn Fashion Weekend, color is not an issue. Aside from being open to all nationalities, models participate on a voluntary basis and the designerS pick their models. Designers are treated as stars there. It is also fair. When a designer complained that her designs had been plagiarized by another designer, the nicker was banned from the show after an inquiry. I have no doubt the Brooklyn Fashion Weekend is the rising star of American fashion shows! |
